How to Alleviate Stress Using Telephony

In this series, we’ve walked you through what causes stress at work and the symptoms of burnout. We hope that knowing more about what causes burnout will help you to mitigate this problem within your businesses.

Workplace stress happens when employees are feeling overworked and not properly supported. These things can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and can take a toll on one’s physical health. When the stress becomes too much, employees are considered to have job burnout: where they are too overwhelmed by their responsibilities and their health declines.

How can we help you?

In this series, we outlined that one of the biggest workplace stressors is the amount of time and energy spent on e-mails. E-mails can be especially stressful for employees who are working remotely.

We also shared how business travel can physically harm you. Being in constant flux and not sleeping in your own bed can really affect your health negatively.

We’ve come up with a few ways that we can help you alleviate these stresses by going back to the basics of telephony in your workplace.

Teleconferencing

Try implementing a weekly teleconference call with your in- and out-of-office employees. Like our founder and CEO Hans reminisced about, give your (remote) employees a number to call into at the start of the week (or day, if needed) to listen in on an overview of what’s been happening and what’s to come.

We can help you set up these numbers to make this happen company-wide, or even by department. This will also help to minimize the stress (and cost) caused by business travel.

Making the most of virtual PBX

By shifting the time spent on sending e-mails back and forth back to phone calls and teleconferencing within your company’s virtual PBX, you can help to destress your employees.

Even more, give your employees the freedom to create their own, clear boundaries around their availability when connected to the virtual PBX. This can be done through time-date routing, where employees can leave pre-recorded messages to re-route phone calls if they are working on a particularly important project.

There are plenty more ways to reduce workplace stress by re-opening yourself and your business to the ease of telephony. Contact us today and let us know what issues you’re facing with your internal communications, and let us help you find the perfect solution!
